St. Louis County Jail Roster
The official county path starts with the St. Louis County Justice Services inmate locator page, which points users to the REJIS-hosted public locator. St. Louis County Justice Services manages and secures the St. Louis County Jail, also known as the Justice Center. The 21st Judicial Circuit Sheriff is a different office tied to court security, civil process, warrants, and transport work. That split matters because a generic sheriff roster search can send a user to the wrong agency.
The public locator is for current county jail custody. It is not a full criminal history, and it is not the final court record. The locator source warns that information can change quickly, may be updated from time to time, and should not be used as the basis for legal action. For St. Louis County, the locator also directs users to Missouri Case.net for case dispositions. A person sentenced to state prison must be searched through Missouri DOC, not the county roster. Federal and immigration custody have separate federal systems.
The REJIS inmate locator search form is the core St. Louis County inmate records screen:
The screenshot matches the researched search fields: first name, last name, reCAPTCHA, and a results table that can be filtered after a search.
Use the St. Louis County Roster
Start with names, not booking numbers. The inspected St. Louis County locator form shows last name and first name fields in the base form, each styled for uppercase entry with short minimum and maximum limits. The Jefferson County branch of the same locator code can show a released-in-72-hours toggle, but that feature was not verified for St. Louis County. Do not rely on it for a St. Louis County inmate records search.
- Open the county Justice Services locator path or the REJIS public locator and choose the St. Louis County custody route when prompted by the site.
- Enter the person's last name and first name. Use at least two characters, and try a legal name before a nickname.
- Complete the reCAPTCHA and run the search. If the table opens, use the filter box to narrow common names.
- Open the linked name when a detail record is available. Review facility, arrest date, charges, case number, next court date, and status.
- Use Case.net for court disposition and the county records portal for older or missing booking records.
If a new arrest does not appear, the person may still be in police processing, may be in a municipal or city system, or may not have reached the Justice Center yet. St. Louis City is an independent city with its own corrections system, so city custody and St. Louis County custody should not be merged.
St. Louis County Search Fields
The REJIS locator is simple, but the exact field limits are useful when a search fails. The source inventory showed two name fields on the initial form and a filter field after results load. A user cannot search St. Louis County jail inmate records by every detail that may appear later in the result.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text | Yes in base form | Maximum 30 characters, minimum 2, styled uppercase. |
| First Name | Text | Yes in base form | Maximum 30 characters, minimum 2, styled uppercase. |
| Search | Button | n/a | Runs reCAPTCHA, then submits the inmate search. |
| Filter results | Text filter | No | Appears on the results table after a search returns matches. |
| Active or released toggle | Radio buttons | Not confirmed | Seen in the Jefferson County code branch only, not verified for St. Louis County. |
Note: Search broad first, then use the result filter, because middle initials and full dates of birth are not entry fields on the first screen.
St. Louis County Inmate Profile
A St. Louis County inmate profile is a custody snapshot. It can help confirm that the person is in the Justice Center and show which court case number or next court date may need a Case.net search. It should not be read as proof of guilt. Arrest charges can be changed, replaced, or dismissed after prosecutor review.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Inmate Name | Last name, first name, and middle initial when returned. |
| Year of Birth | Birth year only in the inspected source, not full date of birth. |
| Race and Sex | Code or value returned by the locator for identity matching. |
| Facility | Holding facility, sometimes linked if a facility URL is returned. |
| Arrest Date/Time | The arrest or booking timestamp shown in detail view. |
| Release Date/Time | Release timestamp if returned. It can be blank for active custody. |
| Inmate Photo | A public booking photo if returned, or a photo-not-available placeholder. |
| Charges, Case#, Court Date, Status | The charge row, court case number, next court date, and current status value. |
Bond amount and bond type columns exist in the locator code, but the research found those columns were not confirmed as visible for the St. Louis County branch. Use Case.net and the Justice Center Bonding Office for current bond details.
St. Louis County Access Channels
The online roster is only one channel. If the locator fails, call St. Louis County Justice Services at 314-615-5245 for inmate information and Justice Center inquiries. If the arrest may still be in police custody, contact the arresting agency or St. Louis County Police non-emergency at 636-529-8210. For walk-in needs, the Justice Center and the court complex sit in Clayton near South Central Avenue.
The county uses a CivicPlus/NextRequest portal for Sunshine requests. Use the St. Louis County records request portal for booking records, jail records, historical custody information, or a record that the locator no longer shows. Include the full name, date or approximate date of arrest, year of birth or date of birth, arresting agency if known, and the requested record type. County snippets cite a standard hourly research, retrieval, and duplication rate of $26.60, with possible added charges.
The county request portal is a better route than guessing from old search results:
That portal is the documented fallback for St. Louis County booking records when the live roster does not answer the question.
County, DOC, BOP, and ICE
St. Louis County inmate records split by custody type. The county roster covers local pretrial and county-sentenced custody at the Justice Center. The Missouri Department of Corrections Offender Web Search covers active state offenders, including probationers and parolees after the captcha gate. It does not provide discharged offenders, and DOC may withhold some records for safety, security, or confidentiality.
| Custody Type | Where to Search | What It Covers |
|---|---|---|
| County jail | REJIS St. Louis County locator | Current local jail custody, booking fields, charge rows, and photo if returned. |
| State prison or supervision | Missouri DOC Offender Web Search | Active offenders, probationers, parolees, and prison assignment if available. |
| Federal sentence | BOP Inmate Locator | Federal inmates from 1982 to present, with release-date cautions. |
| Immigration detention | ICE Online Detainee Locator | Adults in ICE custody or CBP custody over 48 hours. |
| Custody notices | VINELink | Search and notification registration for qualifying Missouri custody events. |
MO Sheriff Connect exists as a statewide sheriff app listing, but no official St. Louis County jail roster feature was verified. The county police wellness app is also not an inmate-search app.
St. Louis County Jail Facilities
Two facility types matter. The St. Louis County Justice Center is the local jail for adult arrests, pretrial detention, county sentences, and municipal or state-law cases before release or transfer. Missouri Eastern Correctional Center is a state prison in Pacific, and it is searched through DOC, not the county jail roster.

St. Louis County Booking Records
The practical path is arrest, transport, intake, booking record creation, medical and classification review, housing, then first court events. During intake, staff confirm identity, check records and warrants, inventory property, and create the custody data that can later appear in the locator. Missouri law also requires necessary medical attention for county-jail prisoners when care is needed in the jailer's judgment.
- Booking
- The jail intake process that creates the custody record.
- Classification
- Jail review of safety, medical, custody, and housing needs.
- Detainer
- A hold placed by another agency or court that can block release.
- Filed charge
- The formal charge filed by the prosecutor in court, which may differ from the booking charge.
Case.net should be checked after charges are filed. For the court side of the same arrest, see St. Louis County court records after jail arrest.
St. Louis County Visitation Records
The county visitation page says public visits at the Justice Center run daily, use 40-minute periods, and must be scheduled by the inmate through the Housing Unit Officer with at least 24 hours advance notice. Video visits use Securus. Confirm current rules before traveling, because jail housing, discipline, court movement, and medical status can affect access.
The official St. Louis County visiting information page documents the social visit schedule and Securus video option:
Those rules belong to the county jail. They should not be applied to Missouri Eastern Correctional Center, which uses DOC prison visiting rules and approved visitor lists.
| Visit Type | Schedule or Setup | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| In-person public visiting | Monday-Sunday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. | 40-minute periods. Inmate schedules at least 24 hours ahead. |
| Video visitation | Securus Technologies | Use Securus online or call 1-800-844-6591. |
| Attorney visits | Contact facility or court | Do not treat attorney access as the same as social visiting unless staff confirms. |
Contact and Money Rules
Personal mail is routed through a digital mail center, and the resident handbook excerpt gives a Tampa mail-center address format using the resident name and master number. Securus can be used for electronic messages, photos, and short videos. Phones are available in housing units and infirmary day rooms, and video phones are available for inmates who are deaf or hard of hearing.
| Service | Vendor or Route | Use |

| Commissary cash account | Access Corrections | Online deposits through the Access Corrections service. |
| Access Secure Deposits | 866-345-1884 | Phone deposits listed in county snippets. |
| Phone or tablet account | Securus | Phone, video, and electronic communication setup. |
